Police in the Hammond community say they are looking for a woman who offered a child for sale at a gas station.
Investigators tell The Advocate the woman approached people at a RaceTrac station on U.S. Highway 190 Friday morning, asking if they wanted to buy a young girl.
Police Chief Roddy Devall says the woman was going from car to car offering the child, who appeared to be around 10 years old. He says the station manager reported the woman also had been asking station patrons for money to buy fuel.
Devall says the woman was last seen driving away with the child and a man in a minivan with Florida license plates.
