Congressman Steve Scalise says the bill passed by the Senate Thursday to delay flood insurance rate hikes is "a step in the right direction", and he'll be working this year to get a similar bill passed in the House.
"We've been working closely on getting a final bill in the House that we can get agreement upon. I think you'll see in the next few months that we'll get something passed," Scalise said Friday in an interview with 99.5FM.
Scalise says he thinks House Speaker John Boehner will bring a bill to the floor that they can get consensus on.
The Senate bill would delay premium hikes for years on hundreds of thousands of homeowners who buy flood insurance from the federal government.
