A Metairie man walking along I-10 westbound near Veterans was struck and killed by a car after he tried to cross the right lane Wednesday morning.
Louisiana State Police say 34-year-old Henry Daigle, III died at the scene. Toxicology results on Daigle are pending an autospy.
Impairment and speed are not considered as factors in the crash. The driver of the 1998 Saturn SL that hit Daigle submitted to a breath test which found no alcohol in her system. She also submitted to a blood test that will be analyzed by the State Police Crime Lab.
It is against the law in Louisiana for pedestrians to walk in interstate lanes or shoulders and the use of sidewalks is required where accessible.
