Local Flood Control Board Still Searching For Nominee

The panel that selects nominees for a New Orleans area flood control board — a board suing the oil and gas industry — hopes to provide Gov. Bobby Jindal with a nominee to replace a supporter of the suit on that board by April 16.

Jindal, who opposes the lawsuit, wants to replace Tim Doody, whose term has expired. Doody re-applied to serve on the board and was one of two nominees submitted to Jindal. But Jindal rejected both nominees. Now, one has withdrawn. Board members said Thursday they believe they are required to submit a second nominee in addition to Doody.

Also Thursday, panel members expressed worries about legislation that would give the governor more influence in the nominating process, however they did not vote to oppose the legislation.
