An $8,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment of a suspect or suspects in a recent break-in at the French Quarter home of businessman, Sydney Torres, IV.
It happened around 5:30 a.m. on December 10.
Surveillance video showed a man jumping over a locked gate and entering the residence on Esplanade Avenue. The burglar emerged from the home with a 60 inch television monitor and got help from a second man in lifting it into a car.
In a statement released Friday, Torres said he was "outraged...at the escalation of crime in the French Quarter."
"My fiancé was at home asleep while a criminal was wandering inside my son's bedroom. The French Quarter is our city's crown jewel. I have been very involved in cleaning up the French Quarter and I know this is a fixable problem."
The suspect is described as a white male, 5’10" with tattoos on his wrist and neck.
Torres is offering the reward through Crimestoppers.
Torres, who founded SDT Waste & Debris Services and later sold the business, has opened a resort in the Bahamas.
